Entrepreneurs And ADD

It’s been said many times before that entrepreneurs and ADD are synonymous. I can attest to the fact that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well because of ADD. In fact, Dr. Shane Perrault, of The ADHD Performance Center, told me that its redundant to say both in the same sentence.  People ask me, “You don’t have ADHD, do you? You’re so productive, your balanced, and you seem like you’ve got everything together…” My answer is a resounding “Absolutely, I have ADHD, that’s how I CAN BE so productive, balanced, intuitive, successful, and CAN keep everything together”. But before I was introduced to the SHINE Program, created by Dr. Hallowell, my life was ruled by a power that was insurmountable. He has even said himself on stage that entrepreneurs and ADD are one in the same, with the greatest chance of being successful.entrepreneurs and ADD

As entrepreneurs, we are a special group of people that have inherent traits that are fantastic when they are focused, supported, and proactively understood. We can be incredibly creative, curious, and energetic; which usually makes us terrible employees. The adage about ‘thinking outside the box’ is our life, which means that the majority of the time, entrepreneurs aren’t following logical linear process. Can you imagine how in the world someone got into a boat to sail away from safety on a flat Earth? Or decided that they wanted to build the spaceship, not be the astronaut.

The three hallmarks of ADD are Impulsivity, Distractibility, and Hyperactivity. Typically, these are very destructive forces within someone’s life. But with the correct processes, they can all be handled correctly and bring about incredibly massive amounts of power and success. In the SHINE program, we work with clients to bring those three usually destructive traits and turn them into Creativity, Curiosity, and Energy – ridiculous amounts of energy. Are you beginning to see how this can help entrepreneurs?

So , do you want to know how to help entrepreneurs and ADD? Good, here goes, first understand that his is not a brain that functions as linearly as others. So let’s just start by asking certain questions and creating purposeful answers to each one  :

  1. What is the current unwanted circumstance? What results do you really want and need? By When, How will you measure the results?
  2. Name two or more vital behaviors that will lead to the greatest amount of change.
  3. How will you influence those key behaviors?
    1. What is your personal motivation plan? – How CAN OTHERS help you keep your own integrity engaged in these vital behaviors?
    2. What is your personal ability plan? How CAN OTHERS help you increase your ability to do the most vital behaviors in the most challenging moents?
    3. What is your social media influence plan? Who has the most influence that you know can help you? What needs to be established in order for them to HELP YOU influence change? How will you influence these influencers?
    4. What is your structural motivation plan? What is the most motivating emotion or outcome for you? What incentives can you put in place to rocket-boost the change?
    5. What is your structural ability plan? How can you create the environment around you in order to repeat the best behaviors? How can you make the best behaviors easier, and the dysfunctional behaviors harder?

Remember that as, people with traits of ADD, There are three main things that need to be present when we are facing people, places or things that need to be accomplished. Structure Novelty, and Motivation.. get ot work on the above answer and I look forward to hearing your comments below..

Difference between coaching and consulting

When it comes to working with clients, whether or not they have ADD, a coach is the person that draws out of the person the greatness that is within. A consultant is the expert that teaches someone how to do something better. For example, when it comes to art or music, I barely know anything except that I do know what is beautiful… So, for me to truly coach an artist, I would help them to overcome obstacles to their full incredible imagination and creativity. I would not be telling them how to paint or what to paint…

What to Look for in an ADHD Coach

Talk to this person and get references. Find out what they know about the different type of wiring that the ADD Brain contains. It is important that this ADHD Coach has the skills and understanding to provide a strength based approach to their coaching program. That means, by understanding that ADHD can be a gift as long as the correct individual changes are made and adhered to (preferably with out drugs) the person gets their life more under control and they become much more productive and happy. The prospective coach should know the latest research on alcoholism and addiction rates among ADHD population. It is extremely important that you are honest with the ADHD Coach in order for them to help you the most.

Why an ADHD Coach Can Help You

Many people who know that they have ADHD – want to get better. I hope that is you, who is reading this. Despite the urge and want to become a better version of themselves, there is almost always the burden of fear shame and guilt associated with growing up being misunderstood with ADHD. Coaches are the observers who are only there to help you get better. They wont judge you, and certainly won’t tell you that you’ve been a bad boy. This means that having an ADHD Coach can be a way to crawl out of the despair that comes with trying and trying again and again, only to fail, again. (hallmark of ADD)

What Is Adhd

Some people have the nerve to question me. I love it when less educated people challenge me on “What is ADHDwhat is adhd”. Or they get in my face telling me it doesn’t exist, it’s not real, or that the drug companies made it up. Findings answers for myself is very important since I handle my Adult ADHD every single day; pretty damn well. When it comes to “what is ADHD” I want to have tangible evidence in order to help people understand. I have a personal vendetta against the enormous drugging of our kids’s brains that haven’t even finished developing yet. (I can already hear the screams of the minority of people that medication helps) I’m not done… keep reading->

As if you cut down on sugar intake, turn off TV and computer games, and spin around 3 times and click your heels it will magically disappear.

Well, that is not true. For the people who have to deal with the challenges of ADD, especially adults, who often have few resources available to them, this is like kicking someone when they’re down. Many people with ADD don’t seek diagnosis or treatment for themselves or their children because of the stigma created by some judgmental ignorant people. Before people judge, they should investigate thoroughly “What is ADHD“.

Would you tell someone who’s a diabetic that he shouldn’t take insulin, it’s not good for them, diabetes is a phoney condition thought up by the drug companies and all they have to do is stay away from the chocolate bars and have happy thoughts?

Why is it that people who would not assume they’re knowledgeable enough to make pronouncements of the validity of physical medical conditions assume that they are knowledgeable enough to make sweeping pronouncements of the validity of mental medical conditions?

Why do they then decide (usually without doing any real research on the subject) that they know enough about what are acceptable and unacceptable treatments ( i.e., Either Ritalin is awesome OR Ritalin is a tool of the anti-christ) and condemn someone for using what they deem are unacceptable treatments? As if the brain is easier to understand than the body.

While ADD is sometimes underdiagnosed, over diagnosed and misdiagnosed, it is a real condition with often severe negative consequences for the person who has it.

Once they learn about the condition and begin to deal with it, by proper evaluation, proper treatment (not always drugs), metabolic changes, cognitive coaching, proprioceptive therapy, environmental changes, support groups or other methods. Then they can start focusing on and developing the advantages of having ADD. This is exactly what SHINE Doctors perform.

Unfortunately, too many people with ADD don’t even get diagnosed because of the misinformation and stigma out there by the ignorant (occasionally vocally ignorant). You can’t deal with what you don’t know you have.

If you are wondering “What is ADHD”, how you decide to treat it should be your choice not something that is dictated by others. After all you’re the one who has to deal with the consequences of your choices (or of simply continually researching the condition with little action).

Adult Adhd Natural Cures

adult adhd natural cures

Many spouses have contacted me about finding adult ADHD natural cures; hoping it will help their spouse. This one hits home for me, due to the fact that many of my relationships have been strained by the traits of ADHD. Relationships may be problematic for adults with ADHD due to inattentiveness, forgetfulness, and lack of impulse control are usually traits that accompany adult ADHD . In the event you aren’t great at self-regulating your movements toward others, it may well cause them to become tense and upset. It’s also possible to come off as overly aggressive or as not caring enough to concentrate closely.

Fortunately, there are ways to improve the way you communicate and connect to friends and family.

Help for your closest relationship

In the event you are overly forgetful or inattentive, your companion can experience as if you just don’t care. In case you both understand the outcomes of ADHD, you have a better chance of developing a fulfilling relationship.

  • Divide tasks and follow them. The partner without ADD/ADHD may be more worthy of handling the debts and budget, when you manage the children or daily chores.
